CogniToy creates products and technology for small devices,
from cell phones to handheld computers to small scale robotics.
Our expertise in user-interface design and systems architecture
is demonstrated in our first product, a PC game called "MindRover:
The Europa Project".
MindRover is a game where players learn to program robots
for competitions ranging from "Hot Potato" to "Hallway Racing"
and "Quarry Battle". The highly acclaimed programming interface
provides a graphical wiring screen which makes it very easy
for a new player to program their first robot. At the same
time the depth and expansion capabilities of the underlying
architecture allow for very complex robot behaviors.
The Virtual World Meets the Physical World:
Each of the robots created in MindRover run their own virtual
computer. We designed it this way so we could eventually
target physical computers in the real world, not just virtual
ones. So the next step in CogniToy's development effort
was to demonstrate that our architecture could work with
actual, real-world robots.
Soon after shipping MindRover, we created our first add-on
pack that would let players program and simulate physical
robots. With the same PC game, MindRover, you can now program,
simulate and download code to various home and hobbyist
robots, including the LEGO(TM) RCX found in the LEGO MindStorms
Invention Kit. MindRover is the first programming and 3D
simulation system for home, school, and hobbyist robots.
At $25-$40 for the software, it is also the most affordable
robotics programming system available.
Technologies for a Small World:
Many of the technologies that we have created at CogniToy
are applicable to any small computer-based device such as
hand held computers, cell phones and wearable computers.
As technology allows us to shrink the size of the physical
devices, we continue to face the challenge of making small
devices as intelligent as possible. With CogniToy's experienced
development team, we will continue to push the limits of
software capability in small devices.
CogniToy History
In April 1997, after receiving our initial round of private
funding, CogniToyTM was officially launched. The ideas behind
our first game, MindRover, have been in the works for many
years, however. With the help of many talented people, employees
as well as consultants, we began shipping our first product,
MindRover:The Europa Project, in November of 1999.
